The Alligator Smugglers' Adventures with Moneymakers and
Green Elephant
TRAPPED!
The alligator smugglers are two alligators named Pete and Sam. They love
to steal blue alligators. Right now they are thinking about going into
space and stealing another one. They are taking a vote on it. Sam votes
1 and Pete votes 1 so they must be going. But guess what? They don't
have to go into space the hard way as they did before. They can take
their time machine! And that's what they are going to do.
"Let's go to QB," suggested Sam. "I think we found lots of blue
alligators there before." So they pressed a lot of buttons and found
themselves on planet QB! So they got out of the time machine and
they....
"Wait a minute!" said Pete. "This doesn't look like QB."
"So it doesn't!" exclaimed Sam. "Oh, well, we'll explore it and see if
they have any blue alligators in stock."
Pete and Sam walked a little ways and saw something way off in the
distance. No, it wasn't a tree. It was just a little black dot. Pete
and Sam hurried toward it. Little did they know they were plunging into
the worst adventure of their lives!
Green Elephant laughed smugly to himself. "Heh heh, alligator smugglers,
I've got you now! I have a sure scheme here, and it couldn't work better!
Heh heh heh!"
Moneymakers laughed smugly to himself. "Green Elephant may be smart, but
I'm even smarter. I've whipped up a film that will shine on the side of
Green Elephant's house! They'll see it, think it's a blue alligator, and
head right toward it. Little do they know that I'll be there with
my knife! Good job, Moneymakers, you finally got them good!"
Of course we know that Moneymakers' scheme will be better, because he is
indeed the smarter of the two fiends. However, the alligator smugglers
are more clever than we may think. They see the film of the alligator,
but they don't smell any alligator, they smell a rat. So they get out
their squirt guns and advance toward the trap. Stealthily they sneak up
on the alligator and then POUNCE! They pounce upon the supposed blue
alligator. Instead they hit Green Elephant's house and knock themselves
unconscious!
Later, the alligator smugglers awake to see Moneymakers leering
down at them. They also see, behind Moneymakers, a room with stone walls,
ceiling, and floor. The only way to get out of the room would be
through the steel door in one corner, and anyway I don't think the
alligators have any plans of escaping yet. In fact, they still feel quite
groggy from the bump on the side of the house.
Now back to Moneymakers. As I said, he was leering down at the smugglers.
He looked mad, very mad. "I have waited a long time for this moment," he
said between clenched teeth. "At first all I wanted you for was to be my
slaves and help me with my vehicles. But now it's different. Now I want
you to help me with my housework!"
Pete and Sam said they would not like to do that.
"Oh?" questioned Moneymakers. "Then would you like this down your
throats?" He pointed to some spaghetti soup, which alligator smugglers do
not like. "I'm dishing you up some."
Suddenly there came a knock on the door.
ARGUING AND ESCAPING
Moneymakers opened the door and saw Green Elephant. "Would you like a V-2
Bomber, sir?" Moneymakers asked in his business-like voice, because he is
the manager of a vehicle outfit. "Or would a Yamaha YZ suit you?"
"Stop jabbering and listen!" ordered Green Elephant. "What I came to tell
you is, those alligators hit my house when you got 'em, so I think I
should either get half the profit for their capture or you pay for the
hole bashed in my house."
"Let's sit over here at this table and talk this over," suggested
Moneymakers. "Now you're saying, etc. etc. etc."
"Etc. etc. etc."
"ETC.* ETC.!" (* getting angry)
"ETC. ETC**!" (** losing temper)
"Let's get out of here," whispered Pete to Sam. "I don't really like this
sort of anguing."
So while Green Elephant and Moneymakers continued arguing about what to do
with the smugglers (ETC***!)
(*** undefinable) the issue about
which they were arguing escaped!
Well, not quite escaped. Moneymakers' room was only one of thousands of
other rooms and passageways which held other mean, crafty creatures. The
smugglers passed rooms that had signs like "Davey Jones will get your
bones" or "If you dare to go into this lair, beware" and many others. In
a lot of the rooms there were silhouettes of people and creatures, and
they looked mean. "Boy, am I gald all these guys aren't our
enemies," said Sam.
The alligators will still trying to find a way out, though! And from the
look of things it was going to be difficult.
Meanwhile the arguing fiends had just discovered that their captives had
escaped! "After them, quick!" yelled Green Elephant, and he got his net.
Moneymakers got his knives.
The alligator smugglers raced up one passageway and down another. They
had to get out quickly or they would be found! (Little did they know that
the crafty creatures had an emergency phone line rigged up, and
Moneymakers was calling everyone to be on the alert for two pink
alligators. If someone saw them they would call Moneymakers and tell him.
Then Moneymakers would notify Green Elephant ona walkie-talkie.) This
procedure was just now starting when Davey Jones contacted Moneymakers and
reported that two alligators were running past room 503 on hall 662C!
DON'T LET THOSE ALLIGATORS GET AWAY!
Moneymakers quickly contacted Green Elephant to be patrolling that area,
but before long he received another call that said they were running by
room 403 on hall 592B! Moneymakers sent Green Elephant to patrol that
area. Before long there were more calls and more calls, and Green
Elephant was getting closer and closer.
Suddenly Pete and Sam spied an empty room. "Quick! In here!" whispered
Sam to Pete. They had barely entered when Green Elephant came rushing by
with his net.
"Whew! That was a close shave!" said Pete.
"Wait!" exclaimed Sam. "With no one knowing where we are, no one will
call in, so everyone will get suspicious."
"I guess we better stop the suspicions," said Pete, picking up the phone
with a big smile on his face.
When Moneymakers picked up the phone a minute later, he became strangely
suspicious. "It seems I've heard that voice a lot lately," he thought.
"And there is no such hall as 18,276Y. I guess I better go over and
investigate."
"What room are you in?" he asked.
"Boy, MOneymakers, I don't know," said Pete. "We just got here,
and--"
"That does it!" roared Moneymakers, hanging up the phone. "Who would be
stupid enough to say that? The alligator smugglers, of course! And who
was gone today? Crime Whiz Sheriff, that's who! I'm going over to that
room and investigating!"
Meanwhile, Sam was very fed up with Pete because of what he had said.
They had to escape. They scurried around looking for a place to hide,
when Pete suddenly fell down through the floor! Sam went over to where
Pete had been and looked for him. He thought Pete had found a very
good hiding place. Then he, too, fell through the floor! He found out
that he was wet. He and Pete also found out that they were in a slow
moving river of candle was! They grabbed an inner tube floating
downstream and enjoyed themselves. But they couldn't enjoy themselves for
long because the river was headed underground! They climbed up on some
rocks just before they would have been sucked beneath them and drowned.
Then they went through a series of underground caverns and caves before
they finally reached open air again. They found they were looking at the
same scene they had been looking at in the first chapter--a black dot, a
fake blue alligator, and Green Elephant's house.
THE BLACK HOLE
"You know," said Sam, "we never did get to see what that black thing was."
So they started off toward it. As they got nearer they seemed to be going
faster....and faster....until finally they were just being blown through
the air! And the black thing got bigger....and bigger....until it looked
just like a huge hole! Pretty soon they were going so fast their scales
almost came off! And then it got black--real black. They couldn't see a
single thing, and they were sure they were going to bump into something.
Then visions of their lives began to appear, and it was as if their lives
were on a huge tape and the tape was unraveling. Pete and Sam finally
realized what they were in: a black hole! So this was Green Elephant's
trick!
They met Crime Whiz Sheriff in the black hole, and he didn't seem worried
about the circumstances a bit. He gave them a few tips bout crime, but
they said no thank you, we already know enough about the stuff we like to
steal. The sheriff said oh? And what do you steal? And the
alligator smugglers said blue alligators. The sheriff said, "I heard
Green Elephant had a couple in his storage shed."
The alligator smugglers immediately tried to get back up the black hole,
which was a rather tricky job as they had to fight the 2,820 miles per
hour wind with nothing to hang onto that was going the opposite direction
they were. In fact, I would pretty much clarify it as impossible. Anyway
it didn't matter because the sheriff said, "Why are you trying to get back
up?"
"So se can get the blue alligators in Green Elephant's storage shed,"
explained Sam.
"I think your alligators are already here," said the sheriff, and he
pointed to a storage shed puffing down towards them in the black hole.
"YIPPEE!" The alligator smugglers practically tore open the shed to get
the blue alligators. When they found them they asked them if they wanted
to do their housework. One was mean and said no but the other one agreed
without a squabble. It was a very happy moment for the alligator
smugglers.
When the alligator smugglers and their new pet got back to the alligator
smugglers' hideout, they found out that their time machine was also back
at the hideout, and when they read the news, they found out that the place
with all the crafty creatures had been swept into the black hole, and only
Moneymakers, Green Elephant, and Crime Whiz Sheriff had survived. They
were also very glad to see that now they had three blue alligators
to do their housework.
